Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 12: Four amateur theatre productions by students of the Trivandrum International School (Trins) became visual treats for the audience in the city as the young creators employed professional techniques, dance and music, and innovations.
‘Stop the Clock: Meet Yesterday’, an imaginative exploration of what might ensue if the modern met the ancient, was the theme of this year’s Trins Acts 2013, the school’s inter-house drama competition held this weekend with more than 200 students from Grade 2 upwards participating.
Cultural icon Shri Soorya Krishnamoorthy, the Chief Guest at the programme lauded the efforts of the school in nurturing and encouraging talented students. The celebrity judges of the competition were Sri Hari Varma, CEO of Toonz Animation; writer and lyricist Mrs. Padmaja Radhakrishnan and young actor-director Mr. Vishnu Raghav.
Mr. George M. Thomas, the President of the school; Mr. G. Vijayaraghavan, Honorary Director; and Ms. Sapnu George, Executive Director, were also present at the programme.
The four plays – The Tragic Truth, The Trojan Travelogue, Serendipity, and The Rejoinder – were scripted and directed by Trins students. Serendipity by the Jalam House won the award for the best play of the evening and Nayanika Krishnan was named the best actor.
