Kerala Cabinet has decided to appoint Paul Antony as the new chief secretary of Kerala, who is currently assuming the charge as additional chief secretary of Industries and Energy Management.
His predecessor Dr. KM Abraham will be retiring from the position on 31st of this month.
A.K Dubey and Arun Sundarraj who are seniors of Paul Antony were not interested to assume the position as chief secretary as they are under deputation in the central ministry.
Paul Antony is an IAS office of 1983 batch and will be the 44th Chief Secretary of Kerala and will be in service until 30th of June.
Paul Antony is the son of PP Antony of Alappat Palathinkal family located in Kattor, Thrissur.
Paul Antony has served as District Collector for Kollam and Alleppey and was the principal secretary for Electricity and Scheduled Castes / Tribes Department of Kerala during the previous LDF Ministry.
He has also the Chairman of Cochin Port Trust from 2011 to 2016 and most of the Keralites came to know about the person during the same time and was also the development commisioner of Cochin Special Econimic Zone during 2000 – 2005.
Paul Antony was also the chairman of Electricity Board, Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Department, MD of Supplyco and was the Director of Commerce and Industries Department.
The new Chief Secretary’ wife is Naina Paul and has got two children Theresa Paul and Antony Paul.
