Minister to inaugurate two-day Children’s Science Congress

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 11: The 21st National Children’s Science Congress (Kerala) is taking place in the state capital on November 12 and 13.
The programme, being organized by the Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for Power and Transport Shri Aryadan Mohammed at 9.30 am on Tuesday, November 12, at the Mar Gregorios Renewal Centre in Nalanchira.
A total of 77 projects – winners at the district level – will take part in the state level competitions for the Children’s Science Congress whose focal theme this year is “Energy: Explore, Harness and Conserve”.
Prof C P Aravindakshan, Chairman, State Academic Committee NCSC, will preside over the function. KSCSTE Director Prof George Varghese and Prof K P Thrivikramji, State Academic Coordinator NCSC will deliver special addresses. 
Technical sessions will begin at 11 am. The competitions will be held in the junior and senior categories. The best 16 projects from the state will be selected for the National Children’s Science Congress to be held in Bhopal from December 27-31, 2013.
On Wednesday, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy will present awards to the winners at the valedictory ceremony at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 13. Dr Biju Prabhakar, Director of Public Instruction, will preside over the valedictory ceremony.
