Haritha V Kumar – IAS Topper 2012 – 13

The Union Pharitha v kumar, ias topper, haritha keralaublic Service Commission announced a list of 998 successful candidates (753 men & 245 women), with two from Kerala candidates topping the examination. Women candidates retained their top positions across the general, scheduled caste and scheduled tribe categories

For the first time since 1991, a Keralite has come first in the Civil Services Examinations while the second and fourth positions have also been bagged by people from the state. Daughter of Vijaya Kumar and Chitra, Haritha completed her schooling from Neyyatinkara Higher Secondary School. After a gap of 20 years, Haritha V Kumar (Roll No. 075502) brought the glory of gatting first rank to Kerala. Haritha V Kumar, is from Thycaud in Thiruvananthapuram.

An engineering graduate, Haritha chose economics and Malayalam as her main subjects for the civil service. This was her fourth attempt in the civil services. Haritha Kumar, who is undergoing training as an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) official while talking to reporters from Faridabad near Delhi said that she is very grateful to her teachers and her family who supported her cause. Haritha has received training from the Kerala State Civil Services Academy, here in trivandrum. Haritha as become the first Keralite in more than 20 years to achieve this distinction.

The other two top rank holders from the state, Sriram Venkitaraman and Alby John Varghese, are doctors.

This is for the 3rd consecutive year, a woman has topped the prestigious Civil Services Examination..
