A workshop is being organized by manorama horizon dot com in association with think and learn for engineering and medical aspirants in kerala. The workshop will be held in Mascot Hotel trivandrum on 6th of May at about 2′o clock. Students who are studying in 10th standard, +1 and +2 classes and there parents are invited. Price of PVC Pipes on the rise

The pipe compost project which is being installed by corporation on each households for garbage disposal is facing the problem with price of pipes getting increased. Agencies which have earlier agreed on provided pipes for the project have increased their price. As per reports there will be increase in price of pipes as the demand is increasing. About 30000 people have contacted corporation for this pipe compost project and only 3000 pipe compost units are installed by the corporation. Each person will have to spend an amount of RS.220 for installing pipe compost in their home after deducting about 75% as subsidy from the actual amount. The agencies who are selling these pipes have increased the price of pipes up to 20 rs, this has to be spend by the consumer. The corporation is facing a dilemma as they have agreed earlier that they will be installing this pipe compost system in about 220 Rs and is unable to increase the price.

For the past one week summer rain in kerala has been heavy and people inside the city has been facing problems with garbage especially with those garbage which are dumped beside the roads.

Electricity Production in Chalai Using Garbage

A new waste disposal plant which is supposed to turn the garbage to electricity will be functional soon in chalai. The plant will be install in as a public-private entity. It will be installed on the premises of TRIDA inside chalai bazar, trivandrum. This type of waste disposal is less harmful the environment and pollution free. Besides this mobile instinators will also bought for waste disposal. Mobile instinators are those machines which reaches the source of disposal and burn those at there itself

Recently supreme court has ordered to open vilappilsala plant but government has decided not to forcefully open the plant for garbage disposal. Moreover government will not take a negative decision against the vilappilsala public agitation as the neyyatinkara bye election is on the door steps. So no garbage will be dumped in vilappilsala.

In this situation government has decided to implement the project of covering garbage to electricity which is successful in many countries abroad. The electricity which is produced by the plant will be bought by the electricity board. About 50 cents of land is needed for installing the plant and government is supposed to provide about 35 tons of garbage each day. The private partner for this plant has been selected based on the tenders submitted by various companies and the company named Loro based in Bangalore has been awarded the contract. About 20 crores of rupees is needed to install the plant and about 300 kilowatts of electricity can be generated from a ton of garbage.

Railway Ticket Price Hiked on Pongala Day : Protests On

A march has been organised against the action of railways who has increased rate of railway tickets during attukal pongala. Lots of people will be coming to trivandrum on the day of attukal pongala from various parts of kerala and from neighbouring states of keala. Earlier railway has said that the charges for railway tickets on that day will be slightly higer that the usual rate. The Mahila Morcha of BJP has organized a march to railway station in trivandrum to protest against this hike in charges. The march has been inagurated by Trivandrum District BJP President Karamana Jayan. Karamana Jayan has told that railway has show discrimination against womens and the religion in the state. Janaka Kumari, the district president of Mahila Morcha has also attended the function.

Hindi Aikya Vedhi has also informed that the resolution of railways to charge the rate of express tickets for special trains which are supposed to be run on the pongala day is unfavorable. The protest march to railways by Hindu Aikya Vedhi has been inagurated by State Secretary Bhargavaram.

New Magistrate Court for Trivandrum

Since 1981 this is the first time a magistrate court has been commissioned for Trivandrum in Nedumangad. Another new magistrate court is offered to kerala after a waiting of 31 years. The dream of various advoctes and law enforcement officials has come true when the new forest magistrate court in nedumangad, it juristriction in the whole of trivandurm district. Musif and magistrate court has been started in Nedumangad in the year 1928. For about 75 years people of nedumangad have depended on these courts. in 1996 sub court has started and in 2003 new court building has been completed its consutruction. In the year 2005 a family court has been started including 69 villages in the district of trivandrum. Land for constructing a new family court building is being acquired by the government.

Police to curb illegal roadside business and constructions

Inorder to simplify and make it easy for vehicles to pass in and around attingal town police is taking measures to cease illegal roadside business and illegal construction inside the town. Police is taking measures after the department has been criticized by Highway Jagratha Samithy. As part of measures to be undertaken by the police department, a meeting of various political parties has been held to raise their issues. Police has told that all the political parties have shown a favourable attitude towards the same. All those roadside businesses will be removed which are not having license from corporation, those business which acquired the space of footpaths and those illegal constructions on foot paths by various shop owners. Police has told that the shop owners who have illegal construction or roadside business should be removed at their own will before monday. If it is not removed by monday then police will be forcefully removing those. Since illegal constructions has been made and roadside businesses has flourished it is very difficult especially for childrens and womens to walk along the footpaths in the public roads. This situation has paved way for increasing the number of accidents in the area. After the issue has been raised by people and police department a new union has been organised named Attingal Footpath business owners union whose main objective is to help those who are running business in foot paths.

E-ticketing of movies started in Trivandrum

The traditional way of distributing tickets has been stopped and new way of movie ticketing has been started in Trivandrum. The newly introduced e ticket system has been inaugurated by B Ganesh Kumar in the Kairali Sree Theatre. This ticketing system has been started as a trial system which is part of the introduction of ticketing machines which will be introduced in all theaters in Kerala. Ticket are distributed for the noon-show of the movie Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty. Minister has given tickets during the matinee show of this movie. Cultural welfare board has undertaken this project of e-ticketing of movie tickets. G Suresh Kumar who is the board chairman and producers Gandhimathi Balan, and B Rajesh was there during the function. The new e-ticketing system will be introduced in all theater across kerala which will help the government to know exactly the income of each theater and the producers and distributors will be getting their profit divident in a better manner.

Keltron has provided laptops and machine for print outs for this e-ticketing system. Once a person get a ticket from the counter, the ticket has to be scanned by a scanner placed in the entrance of the theater. If the ticket you are holding is the right one then one can enter the theater. This scanner will help to identify whether this ticket is the new or old one. The information about collection is being stored in the computer so that the movie producers can check collection at any point of time. Cultural welfare board will be getting an amount of 3 rupees from each ticket which is being sold and an amount of 25ps will be given to keltron for each transaction. After the trial run is over some improvements for the system has been suggested. This e-ticketing system has been welcomed by those who came to watch the movie.

Garbage in Pubic Roads in Trivandrum

Inorder to find a permanent solutions for garbage and waste disposal problem in trivandrum the health inspectors of trivandrum has conducted a night patrol. The night squad of health inspectors have retained about vehicles, these vehicles were loading garbage from various location the city to dump in public roads. All those vehicles has been fined and other actions has been taken against the culprits. Corporation secretary has told that stringent action will be taken against those who are dumping waste in public roads and places in trivandrum.

The most awaited Pongala Festival of Devi devotees in kerala, the Attukal Pongala is about to happen on March 7th 2012. The 9 day long Pongala Maholsavam festival has started on 28 of February.
