6 people were killed and two injured when a locally made bomb exploded on Tuesday night in a coastal village near the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant. Koodamkulam has been in the new for the past several years pertaining to the recently started nuclear power plant.

Those killed included a woman and three children, all aged below five years. The bombs were allegedly stocked by some villagers following a clash with another group. Three houses caved in due to the impact of the explosion.
