Consequent on the complaints received by the Transport Commissioner regarding permitting of overloaded vehicles without compounding, receiving bribes etc, at the Motor Vehicles Check Post at Poovar, the Transport Commissioner, Shri Rishi Raj Singh, IPS ordered to conduct surprise check at the Poovar Check Post. The surprise check conducted by the Transport Commissioner’s squad on 27.06.2013 revealed that vehicles were permitted to pass through the check post without compounding properly and no proper entries in the Movement Register kept in the Check Post have been seen recorded. Shri K Biju,Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector and Shri S. Dinesh, Office Attendant on duty were found responsible and they have been placed under suspension by the Transport Commissioner pending detailed enquiry. Explanation of the Regional Transport Officer, Thiruvananthapuram and the Motor Vehicle Inspector on duty at the Poovar Check Post, being the controlling officers, have also been called for.
The Transport COmmisssiner also ordered to start an ‘Enquiry Counter and Help Desk’ in Transport Commissionerate and all Regional Transport Offices w.e.f. 01.07.2013 to help the people approaching to the office for various services and to register complaints regarding the services etc with a view to avoid touts, agents etc.
